With the Open Innovation in Science project, the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft is carrying out pioneer work in Europe: for the first time, open innovation methods are expanding the potential of research processes. To date, this type of knowledge transfer is mainly applied in the field of economy. But the field of science can also hugely benefit from these collaborative innovation processes: to succeed in the competitive environment of the science system, scientists must develop new partnerships, new forms of collaboration and new methods for generating and analysing data.
